Make creamy, cheesy macaroni and cheese effortlessly in your slow cooker. This recipe is perfect for busy days or when you need a simple, crowd-pleasing side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of cheddar soup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half or heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Place the uncooked macaroni in the slow cooker.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, cream of cheddar soup, salt, pepper, mustard powder, and paprika.
  3. Pour the milk mixture over the macaroni in the slow cooker. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 2 to 2.5 hours, stirring every 30 minutes, until the pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese until completely melted and smooth.
  6. Stir in the half-and-half or heavy cream for extra creaminess.
  7. Cover and cook on LOW for another 15 minutes, or until heated through. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For best results, use freshly shredded cheese. Pre-shredded cheese often contains anti-caking agents that affect melting.
  • You can substitute the cheddar with Gruyère for a richer flavor profile.
  • Stirring frequently prevents the pasta from sticking to the bottom of the slow cooker.
