Ingredients
Scale
3 tablespoons butter
1 package (10 oz, about 40) marshmallows
6 cups crispy rice cereal
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Candy eyeballs
Instructions
Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
Remove from heat. Stir in crispy rice cereal until well coated.
Press the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch pan.
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, corn syrup, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. This is your mummy icing.
Once the Rice Krispie treats have cooled slightly, use a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off to pipe thin lines of icing back and forth across the treats to create a mummy effect.
While the icing is still wet, place candy eyeballs on the mummy treats.
Allow the icing to set before cutting into squares.
Notes
Grease your spatulas and hands with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking when pressing the cereal mixture into the pan.
For extra spooky treats, you can add a drop of black food coloring to a portion of the icing to create darker mummy lines.
Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature.
