Spicy Mummy Jalapeño Poppers are a fun and festive snack perfect for Halloween parties. These poppers combine the heat of jalapeños with a creamy, cheesy filling, all wrapped up to look like spooky mummies. They are easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large jalapeño peppers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cooked bacon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Small black edible candy eyes (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes. Wear gloves to avoid irritation.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon (if using), garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Spoon the cheese mixture evenly into the hollowed-out jalapeño halves.
  5. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Cut each triangle into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  6. Wrap the crescent roll strips around the stuffed jalapeño halves to create a mummy effect, leaving a small space for the eyes.
  7. Place the wrapped jalapeños on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush the dough with the beaten egg wash.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Once cooled slightly, carefully press two edible candy eyes into the dough on each mummy popper.
  11. Serve warm and enjoy your spooky snack!

Notes

  • For a milder flavor, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeños.
  • If you don’t have bacon, you can omit it or substitute with other cooked, finely chopped ingredients like cooked ham or chives.
  • Ensure the candy eyes are edible and food-safe.
