Make this simple, non-alcoholic cooler using fresh watermelon and lime juice for a perfect drink to cool down.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups cubed seedless watermelon
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 4-5 limes)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime slices for garnish
  • Mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed watermelon, lime juice, water, and sweetener into a blender.
  2. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth.
  3. Taste the mixture and add more sweetener if the watermelon is not very sweet.
  4. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove any pulp. Press down on the solids to extract all liquid.
  5. Chill the juice mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes until very cold.
  6. To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes.
  7. Pour the chilled watermelon lime mixture over the ice.
  8. Garnish each glass with a lime slice and a mint sprig.

Notes

  • For a sparkling version, replace the 1/4 cup of water with club soda or sparkling water when serving.
  • If you prefer a slushie texture, freeze about 2 cups of the strained juice mixture in an ice cube tray and blend those cubes with the remaining liquid.
  • Use very ripe watermelon for the best natural sweetness.
