Follow these steps to make refreshing homemade iced peach green tea using fresh peaches or peach syrup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 green tea bags (or 2 tablespoons loose leaf green tea)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen peach slices
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • Ice cubes
  • Peach slices or lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the peach simple syrup: Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan. Add the peach slices. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the peaches steep for 15 minutes. Strain the syrup, pressing the peaches to extract liquid. Discard solids.
  2. Brew the tea: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and let it cool for 1 minute (do not use boiling water directly on green tea). Add the green tea bags or loose leaves. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Do not over-steep, as this causes bitterness.
  3. Remove the tea bags or strain the loose leaves.
  4. Combine the brewed tea and the peach simple syrup in a pitcher. Stir well.
  5. Chill the tea mixture completely in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  6. To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour the chilled iced peach green tea over the ice. Garnish with fresh peach slices or a lemon wedge.

Notes

  • For a stronger tea concentrate, use half the water amount (2 cups) for brewing and dilute with cold water after chilling.
  • If you prefer less sugar, use only 1/4 cup of sugar in the syrup, or substitute with honey or a zero-calorie sweetener to taste.
  • Use high-quality green tea for the best flavor when serving cold.
