1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
6 hamburger buns
Instructions
Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
Add the chopped onion and green pepper to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the vegetables soften, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the water, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the hamburger buns. Serve immediately.
