Ingredients
Scale
1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and black pepper to taste
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
Pat the chicken breasts dry and season them generously with salt and pepper.
In a small bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and dried oregano to create the glaze.
Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 3 to 4 minutes per side until lightly browned.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Brush half of the glaze mixture evenly over the tops of the chicken breasts.
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Remove the chicken from the oven. Brush with the remaining glaze. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For extra shine, you can briefly broil the chicken for the last minute of cooking, watching closely to prevent burning the sugar.
This chicken pairs well with steamed rice or a fresh green salad.
Richard suggests tasting the glaze before applying it; adjust the vinegar if you prefer it tangier.
