Make a simple, creamy seafood salad using imitation crab meat. This recipe yields a deli-style salad perfect for sandwiches or serving cold.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz imitation crab meat (surimi), shredded or flaked
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Drain any excess liquid from the imitation crab meat. Place the crab in a medium bowl and shred or flake it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, dill weed, black pepper, and salt until smooth. This is your dressing.
  3. Add the chopped celery and minced red onion to the bowl with the imitation crab.
  4. Pour the prepared dressing over the crab and vegetable mixture.
  5. Gently fold all ingredients together until everything is evenly coated with the creamy dressing. Do not overmix.
  6. Cover the bowl and chill the salad in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to combine.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, substitute half of the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt.
  • If you prefer a sweeter salad, add 1 tablespoon of sweet pickle relish.
  • Serve this salad on toasted bread, crackers, or over lettuce for a low-carb option.
