Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15 ounce) can sweet peas, drained
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the drained peas, celery, red onion, cheddar cheese, and crumbled bacon.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Pour the dressing mixture over the pea mixture.
  4. Gently fold all ingredients together until the peas and vegetables are evenly coated with the dressing.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

Notes

  • For a tangier flavor, substitute sour cream for half of the mayonnaise.
  • If you prefer a sweeter salad, increase the sugar to 1 1/2 tablespoons.
  • You can prepare the salad up to 4 hours ahead of time.
