Make this easy shrimp pasta recipe for a rich, bright, and satisfying weeknight dinner. This recipe delivers a restaurant style lemon cream sauce pasta quickly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound linguine or fettuccine pasta
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the linguine according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta water before draining. Set the drained pasta aside.
  2. Pat the shrimp dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let it burn.
  5. Pour in the white wine or broth and let it simmer for 2 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Let the sauce gently simmer for 3 minutes until it starts to thicken slightly.
  7. Stir in the 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency for this lemon cream sauce pasta.
  8. Return the cooked shrimp and the drained pasta to the skillet. Toss everything together until the pasta is fully coated in the creamy lemon sauce.
  9. Stir in the fresh parsley. Serve immediately with extra Parmesan cheese. This is a great quick weeknight shrimp dinner.

Notes

  • For an extra bright flavor, use fresh lemon juice only; bottled juice changes the taste of this creamy lemon shrimp pasta.
  • If you do not use wine, increase the broth to 3/4 cup.
  • You can substitute fettuccine for linguine if you prefer a wider noodle for your seafood pasta recipe.
