Prepare this simple, zesty sauce in five minutes. It pairs well with prime rib, roast beef, or as a tangy dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup prepared horseradish, drained
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the sour cream, prepared horseradish, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed. Add more lemon juice for tang or salt for flavor.
  4. If using, stir in the chopped fresh chives.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the sauce for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Drain the excess liquid from the prepared horseradish before adding it to the sauce for the best texture.
  • For a thicker sauce, substitute half of the sour cream with mayonnaise.
  • This sauce tastes best when made ahead of time.
