This Buffalo Chicken Dip Bread Bowl is a crowd-pleasing party appetizer. It’s a warm, cheesy, and spicy dip baked inside a hollowed-out bread bowl, perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round sourdough bread loaf (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut off the top of the sourdough bread loaf and hollow out the inside, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell. Reserve the removed bread for dipping.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the shredded chicken, cheddar cheese, and Monterey Jack cheese. If using, add the chopped celery and green onions.
  5. Spoon the buffalo chicken dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl.
  6. Wrap the bread bowl loosely in aluminum foil.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is heated through and bubbly.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the bread bowl is golden brown and toasted.
  9. Serve hot with the reserved bread pieces for dipping.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the dip mixture.
  • You can use rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • If you prefer a milder dip, use less buffalo wing sauce or a milder variety.
