Make tender, fall-off-the-bone BBQ Baby Back Ribs right in your own kitchen. Richard guides you through creating that classic smoky, sweet flavor you love for your next cookout or comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks (about 3 lbs total) pork baby back ribs
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C). This slow bake is the secret to tenderness.
  2. Remove the thin membrane from the back of each rack of ribs. You can use a paper towel to get a good grip.
  3. Mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to create your dry rub.
  4. Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub. Press it in gently.
  5. Wrap each rack tightly in heavy-duty aluminum foil. Place the foil-wrapped ribs on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 3 to 3.5 hours, or until the meat is very tender when poked with a fork.
  7. While the ribs bake, prepare the glaze: combine the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar in a small saucepan. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves.
  8. Carefully remove the ribs from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).
  9. Open the foil and drain off any liquid. Brush the top of the ribs generously with the prepared glaze.
  10. Return the glazed ribs to the oven, uncovered, for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
  11. Remove from the oven. Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing between the bones and serving immediately.

Notes

  • If you prefer grilling, you can finish the ribs on a low-heat grill after the slow bake, applying the glaze during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
  • The low, slow oven method makes these ribs incredibly tender without needing a smoker.
  • Taste your BBQ sauce before glazing; adjust sweetness or tanginess if needed.
