Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 8 large eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 12 slices bread, cubed

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cooked and crumbled bacon, cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, shredded cheddar cheese, and shredded Monterey Jack cheese.
  3. Add the cubed bread to the bowl and toss to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and cheese mixture in the baking dish. Gently stir to ensure all ingredients are coated.
  6. Cover the baking dish tightly with plastic wrap or foil.
  7. Refrigerate overnight (or for at least 8 hours).
  8. When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Remove the plastic wrap or foil and bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown on top.
  10. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For an even richer flavor, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the egg mixture.
  • If you prefer a less dense casserole, you can use fewer slices of bread or soak them for a shorter time.
  • You can substitute other cheeses like Gruyere or Swiss for a different flavor profile.
