Make crispy, flavorful Cajun shrimp skewers quickly in your air fryer. This recipe includes a simple lemon-garlic butter drizzle for added moisture and taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 wooden or metal skewers (if using wood, soak them for 30 minutes)
  • For the Drizzle: 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted; 1 clove garlic, minced; 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry using paper towels. This step helps achieve crispiness.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the dried shrimp with olive oil, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and salt until evenly coated.
  3. Thread 4 to 5 shrimp onto each skewer. Do not tightly pack the shrimp; leave a small space between each piece for air circulation.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the skewers in a single layer in the basket. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 6 to 8 minutes, flipping the skewers halfway through the cooking time, until the shrimp are pink and slightly crispy on the edges.
  7. While the shrimp cooks, prepare the drizzle: Combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and lemon juice in a small bowl.
  8. Remove the cooked skewers from the air fryer. Brush the lemon-garlic butter mixture over the hot shrimp immediately before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure your shrimp are fully thawed and very dry before seasoning to promote crisping.
  • For the crispiest result, do not let the shrimp touch each other in the air fryer basket.
  • You can substitute your favorite store-bought Cajun seasoning blend.
