Create wonderfully crisp and healthy cinnamon apple chips right in your air fryer. This simple snack brings a sweet, comforting crunch, perfect for satisfying those healthy cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium apples (like Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (or coconut sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Wash and core the apples. You do not need to peel them.
  3. Slice the apples very thinly, about 1/16 inch thick. A mandoline slicer works best for uniform thickness.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Place the apple slices in a large bowl. Sprinkle the sugar and spice mixture over the apples. Toss gently to coat every slice evenly.
  6. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if necessary; do not overlap them.
  7. Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes.
  8. Halfway through cooking (around 8-10 minutes), carefully flip each chip.
  9. Continue to cook until the edges look dry and slightly browned, and the chips are crisp. Cooking time varies based on your air fryer and apple thickness.
  10. Remove from the air fryer and let the chips cool completely on a wire rack. They will crisp up more as they cool.

Notes

  • For the best texture, ensure your apple slices are very thin and uniform.
  • If you prefer a less sweet snack, reduce the sugar amount or omit it entirely.
  • Thicker slices will require longer cooking times and may remain slightly chewy instead of crisp.
