Ingredients
Scale
1 package (8 count) frozen puff pastry sheets
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or small chocolate batons (for best results)
1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon water
Instructions
Thaw the puff pastry sheets according to package directions, usually on the counter for about 30 minutes. Do not let them get too soft.
Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F. This lower temperature prevents the chocolate from melting out too quickly.
Gently unfold one pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the square diagonally to make two triangles.
Place about 6-8 chocolate chips or one baton near the wide end of one triangle.
Starting at the wide end, roll the triangle up toward the point. Gently curve the ends inward to form a crescent shape.
Repeat with the remaining pastry and chocolate.
Place the croissants in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Work in batches to avoid crowding, which prevents proper crisping.
Mix the beaten egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Lightly brush the tops of the croissants with the wash.
Air fry for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed. Check at 8 minutes; air fryer models vary.
Let the croissants cool slightly on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy your perfect pastry!
Notes
Using chocolate batons designed for baking helps prevent leaking better than standard chips.
If you notice chocolate starting to ooze out early, immediately lower the air fryer temperature to 325 degrees F for the remainder of the cooking time.
Ensure your pastry is cold, not frozen, before shaping for the best flaky layers.
Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in small batches for crispy results.
